Parenting a child with autism raises many questions. Credit: Corbis As a doctor and a parent of a child with autism , I get a lot of questions in my practice (and in my email inbox) from other parents of children who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know that I have been reading and giving careful thought to each of your concerns. Here are a few of the latest questions that have been sent to me. Q: I have twins and one is standing on his own and the other one stands, but not on his own. How would I know if that's the first sign of autism? You said on the news you saw your son was acting different. What did he do or not do? When do these signs start? What should I look for? -Amber A: A...

Kids Answer: What Do Parents Really Do at Work?

Filed under: Work Life , Amazing Kids , Funny Stuff On April 28, AOL celebrated National Take Your Child to Work Day in a big way to show kids that work is not just a mythical place where people in suits type on computers all day (OK, so maybe it is that type of place). We unleashed 7-year-old reporter Aiden on AOL's New York City offices, where he asked kids who accompanied their parents to work that day how they imagine their parents spend time at the office, and, more importantly, how much cash they think their folks are raking in. Hint: If you make more than $200 a year, you're doing pretty well! Permalink | Email this | Comments

Credit: Getty Images Be careful when you're recklessly driving. Someone is watching you. It's your kid . According to Consumer Reports, 82 percent of teens report seeing their parents drive carelessly. Parents deny this. In a survey commissioned by Ford, 95 percent of parents say they are good drivers -- even though half of them say their teenage children have asked them to slow down or keep their minds on the road. Consumer Reports waves its finger at parents. After all, parents are supposed to be role models. "As parents, it's important to be aware of how you drive and what potentially bad habits you may be doing while your teens are watching," the magazine scolds. According to the Post, Ignacio Galvan, 54, the father of the boy who sold the gun, told police he bought the Taurus semiautomatic 10 years ago for protection. Galvan was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and also for endangering the welfare of a child. His son also faces charges as a juvenile. Want to get the latest ParentDish news and advice?
