Hillary Clinton wears pink and pearls after Tim Gunn slams her mannish style

Add to My Stories Share With her pink jacket and strands of pearls, Hillary Clinton looked both elegant and professional when she visited the Norwegian Embassy today. And while fashion was likely the last thing on her mind, her choice of outfit could not have been more well-timed given that she was the subject of cutting criticism from Project Runway judge Tim Gunn last night.
In an interview with George Lopez, the fashion expert, 57, accused Mrs Clinton of favouring unflattering mannish clothes, and that she should use her position to send a more positive message about American fashion.

Mannish? Hillary Clinton wore a pink jacket and pearls for her visit to the Norwegian Embassy today - just hours after Tim Gunn slated her style on TVHe said: 'She's the Secretary of State, she's a former senator from New York, she's a former first lady. Why must she dressthat way?'I think she's confused about her gender. All these big, baggy menswear tailored pantsuits? I'm really serious.'

The audience was shocked further when Mr Lopez delivered an insult to Mrs Clinton's appearance, asking his guest: 'But how can someone hide cankles?'Mr Gunn was careful to explain that his position had purpose though, adding: 'I have great respect for her intellect and her tenacity and for what she does for our country, her governmental role.
'I just wish she could send a stronger message about American fashion.'

Sartorial verdict: Tim Gunn accused Mrs Clinton of wearing unflattering clothes, and sai! d she sh ould be sending a more positive message about American fashion

Speculation: The fashion expert also mused upon whether Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin were actually the same personBut Mrs Clinton was not the only political figure to come into question. When asked to comment on the style of Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, all Mr Gunn would speculate upon was whether or not they were actually the same person. He said: 'I've never seen them in the same room together. I'm not entirely convinced that they're not the same person. And I mean that... The fact that Michele Bachman is declaring her candidacy for president and Sarah Palin is not - she can't because they're the same person.'In what will come as little surprise to anybody, he slated the style sense of both the Real Housewives and Jersey Shore case, explaining that the Housewives were only marginally better because they made an attempt to dress up.
