After Jonathan Ross outs his daughter as gay, the bizarre truth about a very peculiar family...

Add to My Stories When it came to the comings and goings of her neighbour Jonathan Ross and his family, Ilana Mocatta thought she had seen it all: the showbiz friends, the late-night parties, the paparazzi. Then, a couple of months ago, the pensioner returned home after spending some time in hospital to hear the distinct baa of sheep coming from Rosss garden in North Londons green but far from rural Hampstead Garden Suburb.Ithought I was going mad at first, she says. Then someone told me theywere Jonathans latest purchase. The sheep have joined the miniature pigs, the ferrets, the goldfish and the army of dogs in the menagerie that is the Ross family zoo.
The title of favourite pet, however, belongs to Prof Snowball, a French Bulldog puppy who was a gift from Jonathans wife Jane Goldman to celebrate his 50th birthday in November.Snowball even has his own twitter page that is updated daily with pictures and tweets such as woof.

Happy family: Jonathan Ross with daughters Honey Kinny Betty Kitten and son Harvey Kirby at a movie premiere in LondonBarking, indeed but then this is a family who pride themselves on being different.
The latest evidence of that came this week via Jonathans very public outing of his 19-year-old lesbian daughter Betty as he publicised himself on Gaydar Radio before his high-profile TV appearance tonight compering the annual Comedy Awards.
The revelation came just months after Betty had started university and come out to her friends and family.

Puppy love: Jane Goldman relaxes at home with pug Professor SnowballBut Betty whose full name is Betty Kitten Ross is used to taking the behaviour of her parents in her stride. Oh my, today has been very eventful, she wrote on Twitter. Obviously not eventful because the nation now knew ab! out her sexuality that was fabulous but because she had locked herself out of her student flat.
They are a family who regard themselves as being very bohemian and very open with each other, says one family friend. The children are more like friends than kids and the only rule there appears to be in the house is that they take it in turns to walk the dogs.Several sources describe the haphazard way the familys 4million home once described as a 17th-century baroque palace as seen through a kaleidoscope, drunk is run. Breakfast is normally whatever can be found in the kitchen. Sometimes, according to the couples other daughter Honey Kinny, 13, that might be porridge, at other times it is chicken soup.
The dogs Prof Snowball and Mr Pickles sleep in Jonathan and Janes lavish boudoir. Jane has complained that the excitable puppy wakes them up every morning at 7am.
Jonathan is normally up in time to drop Honey and her brother Harvey, 16, at their private arty school, a favourite with the boho set, a few minutes up the road.
Jane, 40, has been known to stay in bed most of the day sometimes not even changing out of her pyjamas. She is currently writing the sequel to her controversial film Kick-Ass after becoming something of a Hollywood darling and regularly writes from her bed. But often she skives off to play World Of Warcraft, a subscription-only multiplayer computer game more suited to her teenage son.
Even her adoring husband who admits to being completely under the thumb as well as a total computer nerd moans about the amount of time she spends playing the game.

Out and about: Jonathan Ross's daughter Betty Kitten Ross leaves home for her driving lesson. Her father has revealed that she is a lesbian Tongues in cheek, her children openly wonder on Twitter if there is something wrong with a mother who only comes out of her computer imaginary world to murmur: I am a goblin. But Jon athan is not without his oddities, either. Hes said to be obsessive about tidying his prized collection of comics when hes not on Twitter. One glance at his account reveals he spends hours online as do the rest of his family. In fact, it is often the all-too-public way they communicate with one another.
Sometimes Honey tweets her father asking for a glass of water because shes upstairs and hes downstairs. Jane will join in the online conversation by saying she is in the room down the hall and suggesting Honey comes and shares her drink.
To keep up their torrent of tweets, gadget-addict Jonathan has installed wireless music and internet connections in every room in the house including the toilets and the shed.
This was all part of his 500,000 home modernisation two years ago small change for the man who once had an 18million deal with the BBC. Part of the renovations included an remote controlled toilet seat.

Stepping out: Jonathan Ross and Jane Goldman at Banqueting House, Whitehall in London There is also a television room with ascreen projected on to the ceiling. Underneath are several 15,000 space-ship-style reclining chairs made by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders.
Then theres Jonathans dressing room that contains a three-storey cupboard which goes up and down at the touch of a button. He needs lots of space for his clothes; there is a work cupboard, a casual one and a fun one.
Hesan absolute clothes freak and has all sorts of wardrobes which are categorised into things such as Beatles-style clothes and bomber jackets, reveals one source.
Heis not the only one. Jane has become renowned for her style; with coloured hair and cleavage always on display. Her daughters also love to change the colour of their hair on a regular basis.
Sensible, drab clothes are anathema to them.
Janehas refused to allow Jonathan to cut his flowing locks. He, meanwhile, encourages ! her Jess ica Rabbit look, even though it is often a balancing act to keep her bosom in her dress.
Theirhouse is equally lurid. The boudoir, as pictures on their Twitter pages show, has an orange shagpile carpet and gold-leaf flower wallpaperwhich matches the bed. Normal things may not be, but loving they certainly are. After 21 years together Jane and Jonathan met when she was 16 the pair still go to bed together. Sex appears to be very much part of their lives and several sources say they talk about it a lot maybe a little too much. Jonathan was never shy about discussing it on his BBC1 chat show.
Jane had a breakdown several years ago and it led to a temporary split amid false allegations shed had an affair. But friends insist they are stronger than ever no mean feat in the showbusiness world.
Janes my ideal, whatever way she is, Jonathan once said. Weve grown up together and I become more passionate about her as the years go by. For me, its only ever been Jane and it only ever will be.
Their closeness as a family shines through, too. Winters are spent at the couples home in Miami. Disneyland is an annual trip for them all. And theyve become famous for their huge Halloween party, which takes weeks to prepare.

Work ethic: Jonathan Ross Jonathan may not be earning what he once did, after he walked out of negotiations with the BBC when it wanted to cut his salary, but money still appears to be in abundance.
Onefriend describes how Jonathan takes weekly trips to the West London shopping centre Westfield, where he has his car parked by a valet. He shops only in the most expensive places and can easily blow 5,000 in 45minutes. He then returns and gives the valet a 50 tip. When Betty turned 18 she was given a large wad of cash to buy herself a new wardrobe.
These days, however, Jane is earning more than Jonathan. After giving up a promisingcareer as a journalist when she became ! a mother , Jane then tried her hand at producing television shows and even presenting.
Butit is as a screenwriter that she has found her forte. Her first big hitwas Stardust a modern twist on a fairytale which was a surprising box-office hit. After that came the violent Kick-Ass, based on a cartoon, which was equally successful.
Shehas now written two films which are currently in production; the latestX Men film and thriller The Woman In Black. Shes also working on the Kick-Ass sequel. As for Jonathan, things are going a little more slowly after the infamous Sachsgate affair when he and Russell Brand left indecent voicemail messages for Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs ruined his career at the BBC. He often admits on Twitter that he misses his chat show, film show and radio programme. Leaving the BBC has been a bigger blow than he imagined and he has needed all the support of his family to get through it.
He is now with ITV, who have been discussing three or four big prime-time projects with him. The only problem is he is not the biggest fish at ITV. Ant and Dec, for example, are also at the channel. Indeed, they are ITVs biggest priorities after Simon Cowell.
One programme he was developing with Cowell an interview with George Michael to be shown after the X Factor later this year has already been scrapped because the music mogul decided the subject matter might be too heavy for a prime-time audience.
So aside from a few guest appearances, and a one-off show with U.S. magicians Penn and Teller, Jonathans keeping himself busy writing comics and walking the dogs.
Tonights Comedy Awards is going to be a big deal to him. He has to be even funnier and more irreverent than his old friend Ricky Gervais was at last weekends Golden Globes.
But, at the same time, he has to show ITV he wont risk upsetting their advertisers by being too dangerous.
Because if Jonathan wants to keep up his expensive bohemian lifestyle, he cant spend the rest of his life encased in the family bosom.
