Babicka's Black Madzik cocktail

Forget huddling around bubbling cauldrons of witches broth, this Halloween the most stylish drink to sip is a squid ink cocktail.

Babicka a brand of vodka named after 16th century Czechoslovakian witches famous for mystical potions and healing powers has teamed up with bars across Britain to produce a limited edition Halloween tipple.

The Black Madik cocktail is a blend of wormwood vodka, vermouth, triple sec, lemon juice and squid ink, and is a spooky shade of black.

Phil Docherty, from Notting Hills Beach Blanket Babylon, which is serving the drink, says: Flavoured vodkas are bang on trend and the dash of squid ink gives the drink ghostly black veins, which move about in the glass.

The cocktail costs 8 and will be shaken up in bars across London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Bath from this Friday (facebook.com/babickavodka to find your nearest bar).

If you dont feel like venturing out, make the cocktail at home by shaking together all the ingredients except the squid ink with ice and strain into a martini glass.

Finish with a dash of the squid ink (frozen fishdirect.co.uk, 50p for 4g) and a black cherry as dark a! s a witc hs heart to ward off evil.
