Preparing dinner in a bustling household can be a frenzy of dicing, slicing and beeping smoke alarms.

Now a kitchen gadget offers that much-needed extra hand by stirring soups or sauces so you can concentrate on other tasks around the house.

The Robostir is a cordless, battery-operated device that sits in the pan and stirs the ingredients in circular motions.

The Robostir gadget sits in the base of the pan while its three legs whir around, stirring sauces or soups

It stands on three metal legs with silicone feet ensuring that it does not scratch the pan and moves around the entire container to prevent ingredients sticking or burning.

It also has three speeds to suit the temperature or thickness of the recipe.

New Innovations, the company behind the Robostir, launched the product to make cooking less frantic for time-pushed parents.

Prior to its launch ea! rlier th is month, the company received more than 10,000 orders for the gadget from budding chefs.

They suggest it can be used to help make soups, gravy, Bolognese, cheese sauces, stews or curries - all while using the phone or entertaining the children.

The Robostir has non-stick feet to protect the pan while taking care of the job of stirring while the budding chef's hands are freed up to work elsewhere

Kristian Haig, from New Innovations, said: There are hundreds of gadgets in our kitchen today, but the one thing every busy cook needs is an extra pair of hands.

The Robostir by New Innovations was developed to give you the peace of mind and freedom to get on with other tasks while it stirs for you.

The Robostir, which can cope with temperatures of up to 200 degrees, can be used on non-stick surfaces and is dishwasher safe.

It has been highly rated by users which include both home cooks and restaurant owners.

Sally Turner, a housewife from Brighton, said: Juggling kids and cooking have always been a nightmare now I can leave dinner stirring while I tend to the little ones.

The Robostir, which is available online from www.highstreettv.com, costs 14.99.
