Be still our bargain-loving hearts. There is a new outlet village on our shores and what a treasure trove it is.

Kilver Court is the brainchild of Mulberry founder Roger Saul and set in a collection of 18th-century stone mill buildings in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

Although its still early days, it is currently home to large high-end brands such as Emma Bridgewater, Myla, Margaret Howell, Cabbages & Roses, Beatrix Ong and Pedlars.

Top brands: Kilver Court boasts a Myla store selling beautiful lingerie discounted by 50 per cent

Whats more, it has the added draw of being next door to Mulberrys popular factory shop, which sells its designer handbags at up to 30 per cent off.

It is often from the current season, too, although you may well find it arriving at a discount outlet ! as the n ew season approaches.

Business brain: Roger Saul, founder of Mulberry

And what sets Kilver Court above the rest is its fabulous restaurant, Harlequin Cafe, which provides locally-sourced homemade food, much of it from Sauls own farm. There are also opulent grounds with gardens to entertain any weary partners.

When we visited the outlet we found Made in Heaven (MiH) designer jeans for half-price and luxury lingerie company Myla selling at a huge discount its rails of pretty satin bras are 39, down from 72, while knickers are reduced to 19, a saving of 20 on each pair.

And, in Toast, we found coats at 50, boots at 30 and dresses at 25 items that would usually cost hundreds.

The only problem is that you have to rummage a bit these bargains were found on long trestle tables heaped with clothes. Sharp elbows and hefty wallets needed...
